In 2011, the Zonta Club of Melton lost one of its beloved members, Christina Du Rinck.

After reading about Zonta in the local paper and attending the International Women’s Day Dinner, Christina became a member of our club on 3rd December 2007. Christina had been battling cancer for 20 years and despite poor health, she was a dedicated member and loved Zonta.

She was on the Membership Committee 2007-2008 then Director of Fundraising 2009-2010. Unfortunately, Christina had been very unwell during 2011 but tried to continue in her fundraising role and other Zonta activities. Sadly, she passed away on 12th August and is still missed by all members. RIP.

In honour of Christina’s memory, and in appreciation of her tenacity, commitment and contribution to the club and the goals of Zonta, in 2012 the Club created “The Christina Du Rinck Award”. The recipient is a club member that the President feels has lived up to the expectations and requirements of being a Zontian, who has perhaps gone above and beyond the call of duty, and who has worked tirelessly to achieve the club and ZI goals and objects in the past 12 months.
